Love has very little to do with similar IQs as long as there is some similarity in intelligence. When 2 people meet, they do not calculate how close their IQs are, they just consider their compatibility and liking for each other and if they are roughly on a similar wavelength. Machines work, relationships don't 'work'. Do you care for that person? Does that person care for you? I'm going to go out on a limb here and disagree with everyone else; I think you do.

Not necessarily IQ's -and that, I think, is where everyone is getting caught up- but definitely in overall intelligence/mental capacity. A really bright man/woman simply isn't going to click with a member of the opposite sex that isn't at least within the same range of intelligence that they are.

(Chinese very rarely seen divorced, even if marriage goes horribly wrong) Wedding banquets also lets you reap in money for a newly wed, via money gifts from parents, relatives, and whoever you invite, and the money is used to set up the life for the newly weds. although i am not chinese, my nationality is vietnamese. and whenever someone gets married in our culture we also have a big feast. it is more about traditions and long time customs but i think it's more of a way to bless the newlywed couples. they have a festive feast to send them off on their way towards their marriage. but before the feast takes place there is a ceremony held at either the bride or groom's house to give their parent's blessings to each other and to pray to their ancestors so they can have a successful life and marriage.

Well, you are talking USA. In Europe you would find same sex couples DO qualify for immigration benefits as a married couple would. Consider that at least four EU nations (Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK) offer marriages or partnerships that are identical with marriage benefits.

It will take a while, I'd guess 5-10 years before the USA changes its tune. But it is going to happen. As more and more states permit gay marriage it will become less and less controversial. I'm with btownznd on this. Raising kids who aren't homophobic would be a great good effect on society. Also, this would mean that at least a few children who realised they were gay during their adolescence would have accepting parents (of course, there are plenty of heterosexual parents who are accepting, but too many who aren't; and the proportion of gay people, around 10%, is the same whether the parents are het or gay).
The data shows both of your points don't benefit the children as much as the negative sides (from the child's point of view, not the adults).

If you do find data supporting gay adoption, please forward it to me.

You could just do simple things like go play miniature golf together, have a picnic, or me and my husband go to the adult store and just have a great laugh about all of the freaky toys that are available.
You can have a picnic in the park, and have on a trench coat, with nothing on. You can cook him a nice candlelight dinner, and different from the usual menu you serve. or go to the florist and buy some rose petals, put on a white covering on your bed, with the rose petals all on the bed, and have candles all around the room. Go to a movie, and have a coat on, and that is all, while you are their, just pull his hand over. and smile.
i suggest finding a hobby you can enjoy together. also, doing something physical is great. take a hike, go swimming, take dance lessons. my husband and i go swimming every night after work, its very bonding to play together in the surf
Try taking a class together in a community college near you - swimming, dancing, pottery, painting, whatever it is you both are interested in. This will give you a scheduled time to ';get out'; and do something together.
My husband does little things for me. Were both active adults so one day after work (we get home at the same time) He told me to put on a pair of shorts a t-shirt and some tennies we droped the baby off at my moms and we went to the golfing range. Ive never played golf and he has so he taught me how to swing. It was a blast.And the ranges usually stay open till around nine or ten so it works out if you have kids. it was romantic in a corny cheesy sort of way. Also My husband suprised me on saturday by taking me iceskating for the first time. I was a natural at it of course and my hubby fell twice ';';on purpose';'; its things like that which make you feel connected to your partner.

Me and my husband both have Harley's so we take a lot of rides together. We also take our dogs to the dog park, it gives you time to chat while watching the dogs play. When he's working on the bike or outside I help him, it's a chance for us to spend time together, plus he likes to teach me stuff and I am interested in learning about what he does and like to do

Las Vegas, Nevada. It has some of the best hotels in the country and they have great pool areas with water slides, lazy rivers, and wave pools. You can get to see first class shows equal to anything on Broadway. Then you have sightseeing and gambling. Rates go down in the summer and hotel rates are cheapest Sunday through Thursday nights. July and August you can get a room in many hotels on the strip for around $100. a night for two people.

Or, take a cruise. Once you are on ship all of your living arrangements and food are taken care of. There are pools and hot tubs on ship, entertainment, casinos, and they plan fun activities for the passengers each day. Plus cruise ships these days are much better than they used to be, many lines have multiple new ships now. You can get a 7-day cruise for from about $800 a person, depending upon when you go (just have to shop around for the cheapest week to go).
Well depending how old you guys are.....me and my boyfriend just got back from Aruba it is so beautiful there,so much to do such as water sports....the island isn't that big either so you dint even have to rent a car just take the cab....and the restaurants are some of the best rest rants i have ever eaten at.....and it wasn't even that expensive and the hotels are spectacular....
Go to the cliffs of Negril. If you can afford it go to The Caves. It is small and secluded and very romantic. You will be on the cliffs and it is spectacular. You can get down to the water by steps and swim. They also have a saltwater pool. Check their website. THey also havae a private restaurant in a cave you can have a romantic dinner in and also a private cave bath you can have a great time in. If you cant afford that go to Rockhouse. It is more affordable - also on the cliffs of Negril (Jamaica) but not quite as remote and romantic...You still get to stay in little huts on the cliffs so you get a lot of bang for the buck. And at both places yu can always take a cab to the seven mile beach which is so beautiful. There are restaurants all over so you can just take a towel and stay the day. Rockhouse has a thing going with one hotel and you can use their facitlites on the beach - chairs, etc. which is nice. Check out both websites.

I totally agree with the 3rd answer! My husband and I moved in together....well let me back up. I actually moved in with his family last September after knowing one another for 5 months, due to family issues that I no longer wanted to be a part of. We got an apartment together in December, got engaged in January, and married 5 weeks ago! I think it's great if you know ya'll are wanting to get married and spend the rest of your lives together. It's a great way to ';test the waters'; so-to-speak on your relationship and see how living together goes; whether you can get along or not. My husband and I refused to have sex though until our wedding night because that was something special we wanted to save for the most special day of our lives and it was truely amazing!! I highly recommend that, but it's not for everyone...What is your view and opinion on couples living together without being married?
I have done it shamefully I admit. Then I got saved and realized how wrong it is. Then I started dating my boyfriend (now husband) and we did not live together or sleep together until our honeymoon and it was so special. I think if people would follow God's plan more often and wait until marriage for sex, living together etc... then we wouldn't have all the problems we do have today. It's a shame that all these children now don't know who their dad is, know their parents are not married etc... And all these women having sex with multiple partners only to discover she is pregnant and doesn't know who the dad is. Sex was meant for a husband and a wife. Not for horny girls and boys to go ';bang'; eachother and zip up their pants and move on. Another reason there are so many Stds now.

Also statistics show if a couple lives together before marriage and then gets married they are at a higher risk of divorce.
My wife and I lived together before we got married. She didn't tell her parents because she did not want to be judge and I respected her decision. I don't see anything wrong with it, but you gotta know when the relationship is going to prosper or not. I don 't beleive people should live together for 10 years and never get married, that just doesnt' make sense to me, but 2 or 3 years makes sense. My wife and I dated for a year, lived together for a year before we got married.
It's fine in my opinion, if used to predict the direction of a relationship.

Also fine, if both parties agree that they won't marry.

The most important thing is honesty, and that you both agree about what you are doing and why.

Some people who lived together and decided not to marry will tell you how relieved they were to find out prior to taking the plunge.

TOTALLY WORTH IT. living with someone is SO different then just seeing them on dates and the such. i know that when you live with someone before you marry them, people will say, thenwhats the point of getting married?

i think its close minded to think that its a bad idea to live together before you marry. you could love someone to death and then move in with them and learn ALL their day to day habits, and decide they aren't for you. uh-oh. you're already married now you need a divorce. messy messy. Every situation is different. I've been with my man for 10 years and we where never married. We have two kids together. I call him my husband and introduse him like wise. Why haven't we been married? I can't afford to. Right now I get back about 5,000 dollars in taxes every year. He owes back the goverment and if we are married they will take it out of my taxes. Sinse I'm considered a single mom in the eyes of the goverment I can get assistense to go back to school and get my dagree as well as other forms of assistense.If it wasn't for the financial struggles we have had we would be married at the moments notice. How ever we know we belong together and will always remain together and my kids have a happy, secure, and loveing home and family. My opinion is its not always the best way, but for some its the only way.
I don't' think there's anything wrong with it, I say this because only after you've lived with someone can you really get to know what a person is like as far as their personal life. Whether they're a slob, neat freak, or something else like that. That's when you really get to know the other side of the person you're with, the side most people don't show their partner when they're dating, like their bad habits. It gives you some insight as to how they really are, now if you were to wait to move in with this person till after you got married and found out how messed up they were, guess what? You're stuck! As far as the sex, whether people believe it or not sex plays a big part in a healthy relationship, if you were to wait till after you got married and found out your man was a freak, into things you'd never do, some where in that marriage the train is going to run of the track because sexually the two of you just aren't compatible.

It is down to everyone to do as they think fit as long as both people are happy with it. It will not work if one side of the relationship is not happy with it, for whatever reason. If both are happy to live together fine, if not then there could be problems.
I think that it is cool until they decide to bring kids into the picture. Kids need a stable upbringing and marriage not only provides a solid base for their security it guarantees certain legal and insurance benefits that children will need.

My husband is Roman Catholic. I am Episcopalian. My husband got married when he was 18 years old to a girl that he was in love with. Unfortunately, she wanted the wedding and not the marriage and let him clearly know that shortly after they got married. He tried to do the right thing and make it work, but one night when he had to work, she took the money and the car and drove back to her parents house and said she wanted a divorce. My husband was extremely hurt by it and filed for divorce after they had been married for one month.

I married my husband about a 9 months after his divorce was final (we had dated in the past before his first wife) and he has been the best husband and father I could ever ask for and we've been going 4 1/2 years with our marriage now. I don't ever fault him for his divorce because he tried his hardest to make it work even if it was making him miserable at times trying to keep her happy. In my opinion, I don't think God was disappointed or upset with him because he was divorced, he did try everything.but he couldnt make his wife love him and when she is demanding a divorce, then what can you do?What can you say about Christian couples getting divorced and remarried?

What you can say is nothing. This is their business. I know what you are thinking with the Christians your not suppose to divorce much less remarry. The way I see it. Christian couples can make mistakes too. I would say it depends on why they are getting a divorce...an affair v. ';not being in love anymore';. If one spouse cheated, I would say that a divorce is justified. However, Christians are also taught that God is forgiving and that we should be too. If they got married too young and have grown apart, that can happen to anyone regardless of religious denomination. I think they should try to make it work though. If they divorce and get remarried, I think that is okay. I just wouldn't make it a habit.
Hope the 2nd marriage works out unlike that first hellish one that didn't.

Christians are just people, and we make mistakes like anyone, and sometimes we get divorced. divorce is not the unforgivable sin, and even God is divorced. He divorced Israel for spiritual adultery. things happen. you repent and move on, and if that means you find another then live and be happy. see the flaw in some people's thinking is it is written once married to sleep with another is adultery. the problem is when you repent, sins are blotted out. once you repent of the first marriage it is wiped clean and never existed, and you are then free of that sin, and are free to go on with life, including remarriage if you want.

I don't think anyone should stay in a marriage that's not salvageable. That's pretty masochistic. However, I don't think divorce is the quick answer, it should be undertaken only if all other efforts fail to bring about a marriage that is supportive and fair to both parties.

As far as remarriage, why not? There is precious little in the world other than love that provides a certain amount of comfort between people. Some seem to thrive better in marriages than others. I don't think we can judge them based on our values or religions. IT's hard enough to monitor my own failings let alone look for failings in others!

We don't fight about money. Mostly if we fight, it's because we've had a bad day and one of us snaps at the other. We argue about the kids(discipline, the way he talks to them..irritates me to no end because he thinks it's hilarious to teach them the wrong words for things. I.E. the refrigerator is a bird, etc... Luckily they spend more time with me so they're not retarded) We're both stubborn so that causes a fight every once in a while. i agree with you. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, yet i used to be attracted to and dated a black lad my age. We kept it hush for a while, but when we were going to tell our parents, i couldn't bear it. My family have always been racist. Not in a despicable way, where they go round setting fire to corner shops, but just that they frowned upon the fact of interracial couples and didn't like immigrants coming into the UK. Few thoughts, 1. America needs something called civil union. If need be I'll explain what I mean by this but it would be two adults regardless of gender who are of a legal age getting a piece of paper that entitled them to certain legal rights, like health care from the one person's employer, etc. 2. The standard for who will adopt needs to be a high one, very high. 3. If the civil union is able to meet this high standard, then they shall be eligible to adopt.

To the person who said if they are raised in a gay family, what will they become, that is just hogwash. My wife's brother is this big fat gay man. His parents were heterosexual. How come he isn't a big fat straight guy?

I am a father to a two and a half year old child. I give my child a few things. The main thing is love, hugs, kisses, smiles. I give him food, last night it was chicken. I give him a bath. I give him clothes. I give him a roof and a bed. I take him to day care. I spent four grand on surgery when insurance wouldn't pay and didn't blink an eye.

If two men or two women are willing to do that, and this is a tough tough thing for all of us to do, than I would welcome it.

The benefits of being a parent, for me, satisfaction that I am doing the greatest thing I will ever do. The right to parent a child should not be denied because someone is not with a member of the opposite gender.

If their relationship is stable and legal, yes. I think that's necessary to protect the child and parents from custody and inheritance challenges in the future. We have no way of knowing now what the future will hold for any parent or parents we approve for adoption. A single parent approved for adoption may have all kinds of future problems that can't be predicted. So can a heterosexual couple.

Stable, loving, financially able and psychologically and socially adjusted are much more important than sexual orientation. - Just an opinion.
Yes, definitely. It is getting to be more and more accepted, for one thing, but for another there are so many children that should have a loving home instead of being bounced around to different foster parents. Anyone who wants to adopt a child is taking on a huge responsibility, it's not something you take lightly. Whether it's a same sex marriage or not that child will have a loving home.

An orphan child will be much better in a house, with two loving parents (it doesn't matter if they are two moms or two dads) food, clothing, education and love, than in the dangerous streets or in an orphanage where he usually will live under extremely poverty conditions and sometimes will be bad treated and won't have enough food and with no good educational opportunities at all

I really like and agree with little_debbie's and Susy's answers. I don't think we should force our beliefs onto other people and when it comes down to it, a child with a home and two loving parents (regardless of gender, race, religion, etc.) is much better off than a child in an orphanage with little guidance and even less love.

Also, children of gay parents are no more likely to become gay than children of straight parents. If gay parents made gay kids (and vice versa), how could have we gotten gay kids from straight parents?

Probably. People have a tendency of developing their own moral framework using bits and pieces of their world - religion, family background, personal experience, etc. In my opinion, this would explain why people of the same religious background can disagree so strongly about certain issues. Whether swinging is moral or not is an independent judgment, so I think it's possible that a Morman couple might try.
Well, considering some Mormon divisions still believe in plural marriages, I'd guess probably so. Although I doubt they call it swinging, since only the man has the ';benefit'; of more than one bowl of wax to dip his wick into.

i hear all the time about couple who have been married a really really long time and after one passes, the other one does too. or some couples make each other the center of their life.

but then i hear about couple who are just together and really love each other. but its not the main part of their life. and of course other couples just divorce and remarry over and over.

A marriage is a work in progress, it really never stops changing and evolving. Every person is different and I think the persons in your last example are those that are more focused on being able to go it alone if something happens. A form of personal independence just in case the partner leaves or dies. And it seem to become a self fulfilling prophesy too, those that prepare for the worst are often those that does get divorced often too.

One of the worst days in my life was walking into my grandparents kitchen and seeing my grandmother stand by my grandfathers chair. She had tears in her eyes and she said; ';I guess you've heard that my best friend is dead now.'; That's how she look at my grandfather, he was her best friend, the one person in the world that she always could trust. Deep inside I wondered if she'd survive or if she'd die too. That's years ago and she's still here but she's not the same, she's faded, it's as if he took a big part of her with him when he left.

They were dedicated to each other and they looked after each other. There were no ';what if's'; it was him and her ';til death do us part';. During the hard times they found help and strength in each other and in the good times they enjoyed it together. As their lives changed they handled it and moved on, always looking to the other to see what they thought. They are/were both strong individuals that always stood their ground when it came to different issues. But, they were even stronger together and they knew it. It was a choice that they made, the togetherness that they had, and they worked on it constantly.

As a deep contrast I see my parents loving each other and living together but going at it alone. My mother had me as a teen and she had to make it on her own for years until she met my (step) father. To me it seems as she's always ready to manage things on her own. She doesn't discuss things with my father and he doesn't talk about things with her either. (Unless it's major decisions of course.) I think being a teenage mom made her ';hard'; and that she doesn't want to be dependent on anyone, just in case...

I got married ';til death do us apart';, just as my grandmother I'm married to my best friend. The day I stood looking down at him in a bed at the ICU listening to the Dr's telling me he might not live another day ... my whole world shattered. I couldn't see how I'd be able to live without him. He survived, but the road back has been long and hard on both of us. Still, I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I'm living the life that I want to live, with the closeness that I have to my husband. We know that one of us will have to pay the prize one day, but it will have been well worth it. Life and marriage wouldn't have been the same, or even worth it to us, if we hadn't made the commitment that we made (and are still doing).In your opinion-what makes couples start ';living for each other';?
i don't think that there is a secret to be able to stay with somebody for a long time.. if you are open to communication and love each other spiritually mentally and emotionally and there is a strong trust bond then anything is possible..

Oh my word so did I!!! I was like WHAT?!? when they went through each couple and said they all broke up! And I started crying when they said that the man's wife passed away after the show! And that this was in memory of her!!! It was so sad because they were so cute! I really hope they do another season of Baby Borrowers...I think that would be so fun!! But yes I totally thought Jordan and Sasha seemed to be doing great and I was shocked when they said they broke up!Can you believe all the couples from the baby borrowers broke up?
i wasn't surprised at all. i think they all realized they were too young to be so serious and after this experience they wanted to just be young and have fun. doesn't mean that a couple or two won't reunite in the future once they've matured a bit. what they went through was tough. even for adults it would be tough. i think they learned a lot.

Playa Del Carmen in Mexico to me is the perfect place, but we already went there last year, so want to try a different place but along the same lines - as opposed to the high-rise, recreating america type madness in Cancun. We loved Montego Bay in Jamaica. The weather was perfect in January. It was an extremely relaxed atmosphere. The beaches are beautiful. They have a lot of outside restaurants, which aren't expensive. If you go, be sure to go to Senor Frogs. It is a great place for fun!!!! Food is great too, and be sure to buy one of their cute t-shirts!

They have a lot inclusives as well as several non-inclusive hotels there.

You will love it! You will NOT want to come home!!!!! I guarantee it!

There are several treatment centers here in the US,and I'm just not positive about this,but I do not think that you and your spouse will be in the exact same areas together.I am NOT sure about that,I was told that the center will keep partners apart from each other until their treatment if completed.But again I stress this to you..';not sure about that';.But yes I know for a fact there are soooo many rehab treatment centers here in the US.I am now in a support group recovering myself now (finally) It's a real shame now to me to know that I actually wasted many years of my life doing what I was then doing.But now I can change and have changed my life for the better.I must always remember to keep my head above water.There is a young man in 1 of my groups he is also recovering and WOW!!! he is back in college,is NOW on the deans list,has a 3.9 GPA and the sky for him is not the limit...I'm proud of myself and for anyone who is willing to totally change their lives.I'm sorry I rambled on here,I just get a little excited when I read that someone is willing to make a change.And your answer is YES there are many treatment centers here in america.As for couples I think that they will seperate you both for individual groups(not sure though).And NO you will NOT be allowed to share a room/bed.I wish you ALL the best and you should be very proud that you and your partner are actually willing to make a huge change (for the better) in both your lives...Is there any drug rehab centers anywhere in the us that allow couples we both need treatment?

Depending on your finances; most would accept both you %26amp; your wife. However, you wouldn't be sleeping in the same room.
First of all, I have to say congratulations on being at a point where not only you are ready for treatment but your partner as well, that is amazing! You are already past the biggest hurdle there is to a life clean and sober. I can see why it is important for you to ask this question, because it would not be a good thing for you to get treatment at a location that employs completely different tools and philosophies than the center where your significant other receives their treatment, in case they conflict. It would always be preferable to go through an identical program, but at the same time, it is not a good thing to be at the same center as your significant other since you will be battling your addiction and need to make sure you remove any chance of holding yourself back. What I mean is that, being in a group therapy, you may find yourself holding back because you love your significant other and therefore filter things as to not damage your relationship (rightfully so).

What I would suggest is you contact Journey Healing Centers, they have multiple centers in the USA that offer the same treatment philosophy and tools for healing. That way you can both experience the same treatment and support, while giving each other the ability to not hold back as you take on your healing full force. You will be able to stay in touch with one another throughout your treatment and since all of their centers offer Free Aftercare for Life, you will be able to strengthen one another for the rest of your lives as you attend meetings together and work your program after you have established your own solid base. Just because a couple are married doesnt necessarily mean they can or want to have unprotected sex - condoms are a great allrounder against pregnancy, STDs, and non invasive (Eg like the coil!) and they dont mess up your hormones etc (like the pill!)

any form of birth control is better than the pull-out method, so i would say yes. you are less likely to get pregnant with a condom, but it's still not 100% bc it could break.

They may also come from an area where there is so much room and far from populated areas. Of course, to have many children also means it has to make some sort of sense and to be able to afford it. It means more responsibility, but if parents can do it responsibly as well as monogomously, then they are able. They don't look at long term effects like how much pollution those kids will create or how many cars they will drive...not to mention how many kids they have. pretend you have couple who has 6 kids and they have 6 kids each. you end up with 44 people. now take that same couple and make them have 2 kids who have 2 kids. you end up with 8. 8vs44. now take taht on a global scale. it adds up.

Big families tend to come from religious homes. Many of them still believe in manifest destiny- go forth and prosper, that kind of thinking. Personally I think it is somewhat irresponsible. I know families in my town that have 10-12 kids and still want more! but it is their right and I would not want to infringe upon that.
I think a lot of kids are accidents and people just don't have the heart to have abortions. I think people should definitely utilize birth control options, but once pregnant, this kind of decision could haunt you for life.

Actually, infertility used to be grounds for divorce, back in the days when it was much, much harder to get one!

I would say no. Yes, I believe that marriage's primary purpose is to recognize, sanction and support unions likely to produce children, based on the concept that, all other things being equal, a child is best raised by its natural parents.

So is it hypocritical to allow infertile couples to marry and prohibit same-sex marriage? Well, certainly the permanence of marriage and the connection between marriage and childbirth has been greatly reduced, for better or worse. But medical tests for every couple before marriage would be very, very intrusive. I wonder what ';right to privacy'; advocates - the very right used to strike down sodomy laws - would have to say about that. Maybe we just don't slice the cheese that finely; NO minor is allowed to sign contracts (absent a very special judicial ';emancipation'; procedure), even though some 17 year olds are more able to handle the task than some 18 (or 21!) year olds.

My answer is ';no'; -- but that can be chalked up to the fact that 1) I think the argument that marriage is a sacrament based around the idea of reproduction and that reproduction is the purpose of a marriage is bogus and 2) the controversy surrounding even the idea of the legalization of marriage between same-sex couples, and the ferocity with which people argue that marriage is something between a man and a woman, period...well, these things baffle me.

That said (and don't take this as a criticism, it's not meant to be one at all) the proposition, rhetorical or otherwise, that marriage be afforded only to couples who can and do bear children (or at least to couples who can) is not uncommon, and often used to point out the hypocrisy, inconsistency, and blatant inanity of the whole ';marriage is for the purpose of having children'; argument.

This would also apply to older people who wish to spend the rest of their lives together and live in a relationship sanctified by their church. Also, condoms, tubal ligation, and vasectomies are options as well. They're not 100% effective but nothing ever is 100% effective. And, FYI, ';outercourse'; is not 100% effective either. Those sperm can easily swim in if some are near the genital area. Why get married if you can't trust your partner to be with you and only you and be monogamous? Why prevent against STDs at that point? That makes no sense...

I believe with all my heart that you can be a replacement family - you can take the place of a family that for whatever reason is missing, you can offer the love and support that should have been present in a child's life. However, a child cannnot be a 'replacement child'.

When we adopted our beautiful daughter, we were sitting at our 'matching panel' meeting where they decided if we were right for each other and the person chairing the meeting introduced us by saying that adoption was a ';positive choice for us.'; Meaning (I suppose) that it was not a 'last resort' or a 'better than nothing' decision....

We planned to adopt long before we had our bio children, and we could have (presumably) brought another child into the world but I just knew that there was a child out there who needed us - and we found her. She is the air I breathe - my heart - my world. Without her our family would have a major piece missing.

However the phrase 'Positive choice' has troubled me...does that mean that they consider that for infertile couples adoption is not a positive choice?

We didn't go into adoption to be our daughter's saviours...but everyday she grows more lovely and it hurts my heart to think of her being stuck in fostercare without the love and support of a family around her...Today in her family she is thriving, flourishing even - and it is a joy to watch her grow.

I have to say that sometimes, people who know she is adopted, say to us, 'she's so lucky to have you' but I absolutely shudder at this....

When you hold a newborn in your arms, or watch your toddler take his first steps, your first thought is not, 'he's so lucky to have us'.

When I look at my daughter I thank God for the joy that she is to our family and for the blessing she is to me...For our family adoption was all about her - giving her the home and family she richly deserves and which, through no fault of her own, was not available for her when she was born.

It wasn't originally created for this purpose. Adoption was meant to be a solution for ORPHANS, whose parents had died. Unfortunately, it has morphed into something else over this last century. I hope and pray that eventually, people begin to understand once again that adoption should be about what is best for the child, and nothing else.
I happen to be infertile and also happen to be considering adoption. Here's why.

~We want to adopt a child to help him/her have a better life because unfortunately a lot of people do use adoption as an out, that happens to not be the fault of the adoptive parent infertile or not. Open your minds and realize that infertility is sometimes not curable, and when there are lots of children who need homes, why fight against them being given a home and a chance in life rather than growing up in an orphanage or bouncing from foster home to foster home. Above someone suggested tact....that would be a great idea considering the ability to think seems to be lacking a bit. And if you really think that infertile people adopt for money maybe some do, but why stereotype, thats like saying everyone in montana is a cowboy....come on. Some people just love kids, and infertile or not, want to have more......be considerate not everyone is a jerk.

Silly me, as someone who suffers from infertility, I never knew that I WAS ENTITLED to another's child. I guess I'll run right out and demand one from a young, pregnant teenager (sarcarsm, for those who didn't recognize it).

I'm not sure your motive for the question but it was not created for infertile couples but don't you think that infertile couples should be allowed to be parents? Sometimes couples who choose to adopt because they can't have a biological child can make better parents than couples who don't have any reproductive issues because having a child is a very concious and thought out choice for them not an unplanned accident. Adoption isn't just for infertile couples! You forget about single men and women who either can't, or don't want to get into a relationship; people who want to save the world one child at a time; people who want a ';rainbow family';, etc.

I know a couple that had two bio kids within about three years of being married. They wanted a huge family, and she's diabetic and had really nasty pregnancies. Her second was born special needs, and they realized they COULD parent a child with special needs, so they went on to adopt several other special needs kids. They did also adopt a baby privately.
Sure, that's an assumption many people make. People are really ignorant, and unashamed of their stupidity. I think its great for anyone, gays, environmentalists concerned with creating less carbon footprint, or anyone who can certainly provide a loving home.

It's because they feel they OWN each other, and there's really no love there. Ur parents love u, even though it doesn't seem like it at times, because they gave birth to u, raised u, and well, ur mom bore u for a time. Ur dad's seed is a part of u. So ur their blood. Well the age difference between my boyfriend and I is 4 years, but I am 18 and he is 22. If you are under 18 then you should stick with no one more than 2 years older or younger than you. Unfortunatly, the whole gay thing doesn't make us more accepting of difference. Even in the LBGT community there is racial tension, I think that it has a lot to do with the area in which you live. I personally have not had any problems being in an interracial relationship, but I know others that have.

My girlfriend and I fight way too frequently. Counseling has helped some and after dating a year, we've become very close. I've always heard that things only get worse after you're married, not better. I don't expect a conflict free relationship, but I don't want to spend the rest of my life having major blow-ups every week.Do couples argue more after marriage?

Okay, My Girlfriend is almost 12 years older than me (I'm turning 23 in March %26amp; she will be 35 in May), but the age difference doesn't mean much to us. My sister is married to our cousin, they have a good strong loving relationship because they grew up together they know each others strength;s and weaknesses. I'm all for gay/lesbian parents : ] However, I believe that it is also important that the child has both a male and female influence in his/her life. For me personally, my parents split up when I was 6, and ever since then I've only known (and lived with) my mum and brother. Even though my mum was great and we have a great relationship now (my friends are always saying how much they wish they could have a relationship with their mums like mine) I do (and did as a young child) crave a male father figure. I have had a lot of issues that I think have been caused from that (which I wont bore you with lol) but now I have a father figure (I am now very close to my uncle and see him every week)in my life so its good.

As you stated millions of couples have tried this, for some it was not a good experience for other it was the best thing possible and some have no feeling either way or are neutral. It boils down to this if you are comfortable with it, want to try it fine, if you are uncomfortable then don't that decision should only be yours. Who knows. For some couples it works. I find it to be enough work just to be with one person let alone another. Intimacy isnt something I can just summon up. I suspect its just the thrill of physical sex.

It also involves ALOT of talking on a constant basis to check in with each other. I feel like the people I know who engage in multiple sex partners have lives that revolve around this. That's all they are. Work and sex. Its also all they want to talk about.

Maybe some people are just wired this way? I just think nowadays, no matter the precautions, we are a disease ridden species and it makes me nervous.

But I know that these people would be miserable. So since they are constantly talking and have their safe words I say go for it. Its not up to me anyways. Personally, it's not something I'd want to try, but I've heard it's great for some couples. I would make sure the ground rules are in place, and that your significant other is all for it also. It should never be forced on someone as a means to save a relationship. Hope this helps....
