Do you believe it is true what sociologists say about couples who live together before marriage?

I have heard in several of my Sociology and Psychology classes that couple who cohabitate (live together) before marriage have a higher risk of divorce the longer they live together when finally married. Also that most relationships where there is no marriage will end within 5 years of cohabitation. If it's true, why is it so important that some sort of legal contract of marriage is established. It seems these days more couples are actually choosing to live together and not marry at all.Do you believe it is true what sociologists say about couples who live together before marriage?
Irrespective of what socialogists may say, a man and woman living together before(or after) marriage is a pleasure, a pleasure for some time.Do you believe it is true what sociologists say about couples who live together before marriage?
mer de noms was a good album

apparently so. i suppose when a couple is living together, they're pretending to be married in a way. this probably cuts into the longevity of their relationship as a married couple when they actually take the plunge
Yes, that is true. The institution of marriage has had many societal pressures put on it since the industrial revolution took place. The bible even warns about living or ';cohabitation'; prior to marriage. Must be some validity to the commandment from God.
Very true...One guy kept telling me it is the best to get used to each other before marriage. When he finally got married he came to me in a couple weeks and said. '; I can't believe how much she changed after we got marriwed.';
