It wouldn't. And denying same sex marriages is a violation of the 14th amendment. The DOMA is on the verge of being repealed and there's a case working its way up to the Supreme Court currently that would allow gay marriage to be legal if that is the opinion of the court. It's only a matter of time...Unless you go to every marriage or know same-sex couples, would you even notice same-sex marriage was legal?
The question is why they want to be married. In some cases it is perfectly ligit that they want a legal commitment.


Some want to use it to take advantage of laws meant to protect families and some want to do it just to smear it in the face of conservatives.


At the same time their are mail order brides using marriage to get US citizenship.


If you are not having children then why get married. Make a contract. Then again, why won't the courts support these contracts.
in my area, the local government two years ago decided to allow same sex couples (not married because that is still not legal here) to be able to place their significant other under their insurance coverage. The result? My premiums have risen by almost 3 times what the private sector peers have experienced for the same insurance plans because now, our usage has more than tripled.

It is not a ';marriage';, call it a ';garriage'; or something else. It is not the same. No one can argue against that. It is just one more step towards the complete demoralization of America. Our moral compass points south.
