How do couples split the bills?

my g/f and i want to live together but she makes a lot more than i do. how do we split the bills? She also has a son who uses A LOT of the util's and groceries. How do couples split the bills?
this is for the both of you to decide.

Does the g/f receive child support from her baby's daddy?

If so, then a portion of that should be applied to the bills.

After that spilt is decided, then it would be wise to discuss a spilt of all the other bills. Perhaps based on a percentage basis based upon bring home pay, after applying any child support contributions.

touching subject for some, but get it in writing too, if you feel comfortable. or send her an email outlining your final discussion on the bill paying basis. emails are admissible in most courts, should the occassion ever arise...How do couples split the bills?
you should create a joint account (to be used for paying shared utilities such as food, power, water, phone, cable, gas, etc.) where you both contribute equal PERCENTAGES from your income but not equal AMOUNTS. that way, no matter how much the other earns, you are both contributing ';equally'; to the joint account.

how old is her son? if he's a minor, then what you pay towards the shared account will go towards supporting him. if he is already working, then the three of you can contribute equal percentages of your paychecks into the joint account.

for example, all three of you put in 10% of what you earn into that account.
If you really love her i think that 50-50 will be ok with you.. i guess you have already got urself an answer.
figure out how much it would be to split utilities like u buy the grocerys and she pays for the electric split it up that way. but split it up so where it is even. or even split each bill up equal but that my cause problems with the relationship it did for me.
