When multiple people throw a shower, & some hosts are couples, others single, how should the cost be divided?

I've heard that couples count as 1 person, so if there are 4 couples and 1 single person throwing the party that the cost would be divided by 5, with the single person paying as much as each couple combined. Is this correct? Universal? Should this be the case? When multiple people throw a shower, %26amp; some hosts are couples, others single, how should the cost be divided?
I agree - Couples count as two people...My husband have both been in wedding parties together..which means we are both helping throw the Jack n Jill shower ..therefore - we both came up with our share of the money.

Anyone who wishes to throw the shower then splits the cost with anyone else. Even couples. Yeah - its a bit more money out of pocket especially as a married couple but hey..these are your friends or relatives and its a big day for them..its worth it and they'll thank you for the wonderful party you threw them. When multiple people throw a shower, %26amp; some hosts are couples, others single, how should the cost be divided?
Even a better idea! One of the last showers i threw the Maid of Honor refused to do anything, complained about it to the bride, she didn't even show up to help at the shower - weird girl, she arrived late. so me and another bridesmaid did it all. what a nightmare

And I too after that last shower said - i am no longer volunteering myself for anything again. I'll bring a dessert but dont ask me to plan it! haha Good luck.

couples count as one their income still comes from the same place......groups if single split even
by person each contributes their share
couples count as 2 people. they are still individuals even if they have a significant other. .....you don't come as a couple and pay for one person to eat and drink and the other gets to bum off others......SPLIT the cost 9 ways
I would split it 9 ways instead of 5. It is not exactly fair for a single person to have to pay as much as couples who have two incomes to pull from. I would also ask some other couples how they feel.
Couples are TWO people when planning a shower. It is NOT fair to have a single person pay as much as a couple (two people). They earn two salaries (or most do) and if they were both asked to be in, they should both pay.
