Arkansas Initiative 1 Ban on Gay Couples Adopting Children?

This measure would prohibit unmarried ';sexual partner[s]'; from adopting children or from serving as foster parents. The measure specifies that the prohibition applies to both opposite-sex as well as same-sex couples

So can single people still Adopt? Can single Gay people?

Does anyone else see how this doesn't make sense ';I'm Gay and Single'; so I can Adopt. But if I have a partner I can not

I believe in full gay marriage, just wondering what this measure really meansArkansas Initiative 1 Ban on Gay Couples Adopting Children?
OMG. This is like a step backwards. I think it is incredibly selfish of the government officials keeping children from going to a loving, caring home. Gay people and unmarried people are just as capable of giving a child a supportive, loving environment. They need to revise these standards and think about what is best for the children. Ask any children being shuffled around from foster home to foster home if they would rather live with an abusive straight married couple, or a loving, gay couple, and I'm pretty sure they will opt for the gay couple. Marital status or sexual orientation are not indicative of whether or not a person will be a good role model and guardian for a child. *Sigh*

But now that I'm done ranting: I still think that single people will still be able to adopt, though not as easily as married straight people. I'm sure it will be ESPECIALLY hard for a single gay person to adopt. I'm sure that there are laws that discriminate against this, but people will still find ways around this. For example: a married couple wants to adopt at the same time as a gay couple: the married couple will get the child, and social services will tell the gay couple that the schooling systems were better, or that the child was especially keen to the other couple, and there's no way to disprove any of this.Arkansas Initiative 1 Ban on Gay Couples Adopting Children?
So, what happens if after the child is adopted and the person decides to ';co-habitat';? Will the state decide to come in and take the child away?

How is that not wildly unconstitutional?

Rights as adoptive and foster parents based on marital status? It's blatantly discriminative towards unmarried people.

And, there's no legal difference between being single and being in an unmarried sexual relationship in states that don't have civil unions, so I'm pretty sure this discriminates against single people across the board.
I means just that, they would make gay couples adopting children illegal.
C'mon...you're not seeing the forest because the tree's are in the way!
