For married couples who've used Natural Family Planning?

How effective is it? Can you actually space your children if you do what you are supposed to, or did you end up with ';surprises';?For married couples who've used Natural Family Planning?
It works but you have to be VERY to the book. And you have to chart or it won't work. I think it may not work well if you don't have a normal cycle (like have a period every month). I think its a pain to take your temp every morning but it is A TON healthier for your body. Paper charting is hard fertility friend makes it a lot easier online. I planned both kids. My OB kept asking me if I wanted birth control after my first kid and I said no, I do natural family planning. He doesn't think it works but my kids are 2 yrs apart and my youngest is almost 2. It can be done but you have to stay on top of your chart so you know when your fertile window is.For married couples who've used Natural Family Planning?
It works only so long as your periods remain regular. Lots of folks have surprise babies 7 or 8 years after they started using NFP. You need to understand that this method was designed to help women GET pregnant, not prevent pregnancy. If you are not opposed to getting pregnant, give it a shot.

My former boss was a religious nut and gave me all this crap about NFP and how it works perfectly if you do it perfectly. Yeah, right, then she had to backtrack with an excuse when a surprise baby was suddenly in the works.
I have not used this method, but one of the couples that held the pre-cana classes did. They had a surprise when their youngest child was 12.
