The new law about unmarried couples receiving $800 a month and married $1600? Where and how?

I was told the other day there is a new law for couples and i don't know if it was just for tax time or year-round. it had said unmarried couples receive $800 a month and married receives $1600 a month from the government. i was wanting to know when it takes affect and how to get it. thanks if you can provide me with information. The new law about unmarried couples receiving $800 a month and married $1600? Where and how?
It is not PER MONTH.. just a one time payment for ppl who paid taxes for 2007. The bill still needs to pass thru the Senate %26amp; House for approval. Checks could start coming in May 2008.The new law about unmarried couples receiving $800 a month and married $1600? Where and how?
First of all, it's not a law and secondly, it's not monthly. I believe you're talking about the government rebates that are currently being discussed. Nothing has been set in stone yet ... everything is still up in the air, including who gets what and when.
It's also not just for couples. Single people will receive a one time $800 check if they make less than $75,000. Married couples filing jointly will receive $1600 if they make less than $150,000. The bill hasn't passed yet (only in the House of Representatives so far). The Senate will now try to pass it, with a few modifications. They are hoping to pass it soon and checks will start going out in May. Everyone eligible should get their checks no later than August.
You got some bad information. There is a proposal being worked out as part of an ';economic stimulus'; bill that includes a one-time ';tax rebate'; -- there is no monthly check.
It is NOT per month.

It is a one time tax ';rebate'; check. Single people will get about $600 under the current plan, and married couples about $1200.
schazjmd is correct...and the proposal is actually $600 per single taxpayer and $1200 per taxpaying couple. Those taxpayers with children would get $300 per child. Taxpayers who are extremely ';low-income'; (under $3000) would only get $300.

Remember: The bill has not been passed.

Also...It's a BILL not a LAW.
It looks like you will get it, but not every month- just one time probably in may. It's a tax credit kind of thing that's supposed to save us all from the terrible economic situation that president Bush created.
Most of the people above me are correct. It's a one time tax rebate passed by congress to help stimulate the slow economy. They did the same thing back in 1993. Single people will receive approximately $600, married couples $1200 and $300 for each child you have. It's a one time thing and the checks should be mailed out sometime in late May or early June. You can easily find more by searching ';2008 tax rebate'; but that's the basics of the bill that was passed by congress yesterday.
i believe this is for each working parent, and its just once a year
First of all, its $600 per person and $1200 per married couple and $300 for each child. Expect payment in June this year at the earliest. It is a one time rebate check, not monthly. It is not yet law, merely agreed to initally by the Democrats and GOP-It will probably be changed or conditions placed before it actually becomes law. You do not have to do anything (other than keeping Uncle Sam informed of your current mailing address, if you moved since filing your last tax return).
