Why do couples stop sleeping in the same bed as they get older?

Comfort is a big reason

another is usually that one of them is a snorer or teeth grinder and they want to get a good nites sleep.

It really makes Sense if ya think about itWhy do couples stop sleeping in the same bed as they get older?
I have no idea why they would want to do that.I am married, and i cannot even go a night in our bed w/out him by my side, we are just newlyweds, but i love him too much to even think about not sharing the same room, i mean he makes me feel so safe just being with him, laying right next to him, and him hugging me, i just love that ';complete'; feeling that i feel from him!Why do couples stop sleeping in the same bed as they get older?
You've gotten a lot of really good answers so far. I don't know that my two cents will match up but here you are. Some couples just don't mesh that well in desire or need for intimacy and contact. Being close so close to someone you love who is still out of reach is almost impossible to live with sometimes, and sleeping in separate beds may make this kind of disconnect easier to deal with. We haven't gone that route yet, but we have a king size bed and sleep as far from one another as it is possible to get. I would rather be in another room at this point, maybe I wouldn't be so angry and frustrated all the time. Hopefully this is not so common to other people
it depends on how old. some couple sleep in different rooms cuz they are on seperate schedules, and old(er) couples sleep in seperate beds due to health reasons. like the man might need a soft bed and the wife needs a hard bed,or if they have back issues they might have to sleep in a body brace to keep their body straight.
Numerous reasons I'd imagine. From personal witness though, my grandparents sleep in separate beds because of health issues. My grandma has bad arthritis and my grandpa just has many other aches and pains. They sleep better separately, but they even just started doing that maybe a year or two ago and my grandpa is damn near 90!

My in-laws sleep separately because they both snore and keep each other up, plus my father in law has this thing about waking up at 4:30 every morning...even on the weekends just because he can, so that drives my mother in law crazy!!

I sometimes sleep separately because I did something to piss off my wife, or vice versa!
This happen far to often unfortunately.

1 Snoring

2 Restless Sleepers

3 Not enough space can't get comfortable

4 Medical Conditions

5 Hate each other (I know hard to believe but it happens) sell mattresses as long as I have and you see it all. These are probably the top 5 reasons.

Because they want some sleep!

My Husband %26amp; I have a wonderful relationship but we sometimes sleep separately.

He snores %26amp; I am a night owl...

There is nothing that says if you don't sleep in the same room that you can't be in a fulfilling loving relationship.
The reason I have heard the most is snoring. Older...Fatter...Snoring. Its the usual progression. The trick is to stay in shape. Easier said than done. Here comes Thanksgiving!
HOT FLASHES

MEDICAL CONDITIONS

POOR SLEEP B/C BED TOO SOFT/ HARD...

SNORING GETS LOUDER THE OLDER WE GET AND WE SLEEP LIGHTER

INSOMNIA
Mainly for various reasons, but some do sleep along side their mate

as I have been doing it for over 22yrs, and my wife does the

same with me.
not all couples do that just the ones that have lost the passion in their relationship. What a shame!
That means their not into the relationship anymore
Cover fights.
for me...because I annoy my husband so much at night that he kicks me out.
