How many ways can four married couples can sit given 8 chairs? ?

64 ways.. :)How many ways can four married couples can sit given 8 chairs? ?
Think about those 8 people (not considering the couples), sitting on the chairs one by one. How many chairs can choose the first? 8. The second? 7. The third... The eighth will see only one chair left.

Taking into account all cases means multiplying these ';degrees of freedom';, which means that the overall number of ways corresponds to n = 8*7*6*5*4*3*2*1 = 8! = 40320.How many ways can four married couples can sit given 8 chairs? ?
A=1ST COUPLE

B=2ND COUPLE

C=3RD COUPLE

D=4TH COUPLE

SO THEY CAN SIT IN THIS FORM

AB.AC.AD.BC.CD.DA.DC.DB.CD.CA,BD
I believe this is a combination, so in a graphing calculator typing 8 nCr 4 will get you the correct number of formations being 70.

Note: nCr is located in Math%26gt;PROB
Whether 4 married couplesor any (damm) 8 people can sit on 8 chair in 8! ways.
