Why can't homosexual couples raise children?

Single mothers raise successful families all the time (I'm living proof). And there are many single fathers that succeed as well. Why can't two mothers and two fathers who love each other raise a family?





I mean, many bigots claim that only straight couples can raise children, then why is the divorce rate so high? And why do we hear stories in the news about fathers who kill their spouses and kidnap their children, or who physically and verbally abuse them? You act as if straight couples were 100% effective in raising a functional family. Can't we give gay couples a try?Why can't homosexual couples raise children?

Why can't homosexual couples raise children?
They could be successful at raising children. My former boss and his lifemate adopted twin girls. They are loving parents.





My biggest fear is that gay parents will teach their children that homosexuality is normal and that it should be universally acceptable behavior. I also fear that gay parents will give rise to an increase in gay-oriented children. Most gay people are gay by choice and not by birth.





SO, the clincher is that I am fearful of what may happen. Perhaps it is an ungrounded fear of the unknown. At least I am honest, right?
Doesn't Y/A alert you when your caps lock is on? Macandy is just a whack job. I don't know any gay couples that are raising any kids personally, but I'm sure they would be just fine (assuming all else is equal of course). I would imagine it could be a little difficult at times for the kids, but no more so than kids having disabled parents, or even mixed race parentage. There are too many ';abnormal'; couples out there for anything to be considered ';normal'; any more.





Let's put the functional into the ';dysfunctional'; stereotype!
There's no rule that I know of that says they can't! It doesn't matter what one's sexual preference is. All that matters is that they are able to love and care for the child the way the child deserves. I do think that years ago, it may have been more difficult for the child, socially, to have 2 ';mommies'; or ';daddies';, but I think it's becoming more acceptable this day in age.
It's perfectly legal in Canada.





It is also NOT uncommon.





Two loving people can accomplish whatever they want, doesn't matter what their sex is.

they can and they do raise kids and have been doing since the begining of time.





I may be wrong but Florida is the only state that has laws against gays raising kids (they can't adopt there). I'm not aware of any place else that forbids gays to adopt.
My neighbors are two mommies that have a 8 year old and a 4 year old. They have cats and a dog, and go on family outings. Just like we do, only there are two moms.

I completely agree. I dont think it takes a certain sex or mold to be a positive role model in your childs life.








and macandy...90% of the population does not prove that. A large percent of homosexuals do not tell people or admit to it. Some marry and surpress it, and some just arent sure. There have been homosexual refrences as far back as the hieroglyphic days. It just took a long time for people to feel comfortable coming out about it. I think its a wonderful thing that we have finally gotten to the point where is it widely accepted.

I know two homosexual couples, both of which had children, and I live with another couple who does not yet have children ( but would love some!!!) and neither of them have ever pushed or tried to convince their kids to 'be gay'. Homosexual couples do not teach their children to be 'gay' nor do they tell them to. I also do not believe that most people 'choose to be gay'. I did not choose to also like women. Through highschool is caused me a lot of grief, I was made fun of, and had a lot of people that I thought were my friends turn on me. No, I did not choose that. I chose to stand up for myself, and yes, I chose to not let them bother me...but I did not decide to wake up one day and say 'YES! I think I'm going to choose to like BOTH sexes.





I would suggest you get off your computer, and meet people. You should CHOOSE to want to know about other people and how they live. You should WANT to know about how they really feel and what they really think because they are human like everyone else.





So I SUGGEST you get off your high horse and look around at your world today. Because believe of not...the MINORITY is now closed minded people, that have not come to terms with themselves enough to be open to others.
